SHADOWS FROM THE PAST - Part 1 Nambu sat quietly waiting for any sign that the battle was over, deeply hopeing his team was able to destroy the entity known as Sosai. His screens along the wall showing the destruction that Galactor was creating with their final plan. One by one the screens would show nothing but static as the cameras succumbed to the destruction they were witness to. The secretary he allowed in the room with him was wide eyed with terror as she too witnessed what could possibly be humanities final hour. All the screens were dead now except one. It's view was devastating. Buildings in ruins, cars crushed with debris from them. He knew he would have nightmares if he survived, but he still watched. His silent vigil. As suddenly as it began, the destruction stopped. His heart leaped into his throat. "Could they have......." was all Nambu could breathe out. Silence. The seconds past by like years to him. Hope? So close now. He didn't want to be fooled by his own emotions. "Hakase?" Ken's voice brought immediate relief. "Yes Ken. I'm here." "Hakase, The object that surfaced has been distroyed." was that a hint of pain in his voice? Nambu thought. "We're sorry we couldn't act faster Hakase. There looks to be Galactor surviviors too. What would you like us to do?" "Don't worry Ken. You finished the mission. They haven't distroyed every thing. We can rebuild........ You 5 have saved our world. The U.N. Forces can take care of the Galactors, with their Leaders gone they can handle them. Come back home." Nambu said with relief and a little pride. A moment of pause, "Hakase." Joe's voice sounded tired. "I believe we lost all of the Red Impulse team." Joe's annoucement was like a dagger stabing Nambu's heart. His old friend Kentaro Washio, Gone. On a mission just the noble way he would have wanted too. Did Ken know that Kentaro was father? Was that why he seemed sad? Later, there would be tears for him and the others that where lost. After another momment Ryu's voice, "I'm bringing the Phoenix in Hakase." "Yes." Was all Nambu could say. All the years of preparation, training and observation chashed apon him as if it were part of the building itself. The weight alone was almost to unbearable. But he had to remind himself that they still had WON with all the sacrifices. Turning his attention to the secretary. About to give her orders to try contacting Anderson, The U.N. and the other ISO members, He stopped short as he noticed her expression. She was looking at him with a twisted menacing smile. "GO RIGHT ON BELIEVING YOU HAVE WON THE WAR, NAMBU." Her voice was that of Sosai, there was no mistaking the hollow echo to it. He had invaded her mind. Possessing her. "I HAVE INFINITE TIME. I CAN WAIT TILL YOU AND YOUR KAGAKU NINJA TAI GATCHAMAN ARE DUST. WHEN I RETURN THERE WILL BE NO ONE TO STOP ME THEN. YES, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO." with that the petite woman passed out. Nambu was completely shocked. NO! This isn't possible, Sosai continues to survive?! BUT HOW? Nambu thought frantically. This must not happen. November 3, 2066 3 weeks after the Final Battle. The Kagaku Ninja Tai, five young and special teens entered the ISO building. It's reconstruction was close to being complete, the building wasn't hit very hard and it's stucture was designed to take Environmental damage. Many workers were busy to their tasks, thinking the youngsters were just more help. The team entered Nambu's office. Nambu looked over his young Ninjas. Ken Washio, Owashi no Ken, G-1, the Eagle.18 years old, young yes. But a very good choice as the leader of the team. Unknown to him for a long time, the leader of the Red Impulse Ninjas was his Father who he thought was dead for over ten years. With the truth out, Ken seemed more sad and angry to have lost his Father all over again. Oddly, Nambu also noticed that Ken's black hair was growing back to a resonable length. God know's why the youth desided to take his comment to heart when he told him to get it cut. I didn't mean that short. Joe Asakura, Kondoru no Joe, G-2, the Condor. 18 years old also. Ever the marksman. The best. His shot was the one that destroyed Galactor. To bad it was't Sosai. His parents had been trying to defect from Galactor when they were assasinated, the assasin leaving the eight year old Joe for dead. But Nambu had him nursed back to health. When He became old enough Nambu gave Joe the outlet for his frustrations, he asked him to become a Kagaku Ninja Tai. Joe joined without a second thought. Jun, Shiratori no Jun, G-3. The Swan. 16 years old. The young woman was brave and intelligent. She knew everything about explosives. Some of the devices she created even frightened Nambu. She excelled in science. And her fighting technique was flawless, to watch her practice was like watching a ballerina dance. She looked up to Nambu not only as a teacher but as a father. Jinpei, Tsubakurou no Jinpei, G-4, the Swallow. For all purposes he is Jun's little brother and thinks of the team more as a family. He may only be 10 but Jimpei is full of courage. Very fast, and his size usually works for him. Unfortunately the other team members think more of his age than his skill, which upset him often. In time he could give Ken a run for his money. I would like to see the look on his face when that happens. Ryu Nakanishi, Mimizuku no Ryu, G-5, the Horned Owl. 17 years old. Ryu has the ability of a peacemaker. Level headed. Still unsure of himself, He is fiercely protective of the other members. This protective loyalty and his size combined could frighten anyone. Get him in his element, in the Pilot seat of the Phoenix. He can make that ship do anything. These toughts flashed through Nambu's mind as he looked at each. Looking at Nambu, the team noticed a look of distress that shouldn't have been there. "Hakase, Is some thing wrong?" Jun asked with concern. "Yes, Jun something is wrong. I'm glad you all agreed to keep training. I don't want to disband the Kagaku Ninja Tai any time soon. I had hoped that we had heard the last of Galactor. And maybe we have for a while anyway But I wouldn't count on this. So I want you all to act as if it business as usual." "But didn't we capture the Galactors?" Jinpei asked. "Yes, we did. But after you destroyed the main craft I recieved a message from Sosai. I'm sorry team but it looks like It wasn't on board that craft. I believe it got away." Nambu looked into the shocked faces of the Ninjas. "SHIT!" Joe remarked. Nambu thought he'd say that. "I want to be prepared if Galactor becomes a problem again. That's why I have asked you here. I would like your help to run some test on new equipment that has been long in developement." Nambu explained. Ken looked at his team then back to Nambu. "Yes, Hakase. We'll help any way we can." "Follow me then." Nambu brought them to the levels of the building that had the Science Labs in it. It was very high security, and they past many guard stations on the way. This area of the building must of taken the least damage, for there was no clean up workers anywhere. He brought them to a corrador with many doors. There were technicians waiting for them there. "Please, each one of you go with a Technician." the team obeyed following into separate rooms. Nambu followed Joe and his escorting Tech. Nambu was afraid Joe would be stubborn and hassle the scientists. He was happy to be wrong. A lady scientist was a good choice to help distract Joe. Joe entered the room that the young female tech entered. And was amazed at the sight of what was inside. "Please if you wouldn't mind laying down here." the Lady scientist asked with a smile. Joe saw the place she indicated. It was....well like a bed attached to a computor. Wires ran along the sides of the 'bed' with a whole console of them at the head of it too. Joe laid down. "Just what does this thing do anyway?" he asked. She looked to Nambu then back to Joe. "It will keep track of your vital signs during the test." she answered smiling. She then turned her attention to a computor console. Joe suddenly felt uncomfortable. He looked over to Nambu, He looked expressionless. "Wait a minute. NO!" was all Joe had time to reply as a cover closed over the 'bed' with him traped inside. He tried to push it open but it was lock. Joe glared at Nambu. Looking directly into his eyes he saw Nambu mouth the words 'Please forgive me.' In seconds Joe was unconcious. May 5, 2808 Moore knew he was in danger. His last contact with Hasegawa told him as much. The 'kennel master' told him to put a tracer on the disc of information he was carrying. What the HELL! he tought, yah so you can find it if I don't make it. Bastard! This can't get any worse. Moore was completely out of breath. Running was not his sport. Sure he had good incentive. A whole group of pissed off armed men looking for their stolen data and the metalic collar around his neck. After running down an alleyway, Moore stops. Hiding behind a pile of trash to catch his breath. Looking over his weapon to see how much ammo is left. One clip, not much. The sound of people nearby and coming closer distracts him from trying to count how much time was left to the detonation of his collar. "Shit." Juming out from behind his hiding spot, firing his gun at the followers. His shots are answered with more gun shots. He drops and rolls out of the alley and out of harms way. Damn! There's too many of them and I can't seem to loose them. Maybe I can get away here. Going to the buildings entrance and quickly entering. He sees the elevator....hmmmm. Pressing the up button, the door opens. Holding the door Moore press the button to the top floor and then stepping out, letting the door close. The false trail set Moore turns to the door of the stairs. Yes, this should work. Running up the flight of stairs to the third floor. Damn that Hasegawa! The least he could do was send another 'officer' to help. The third floor was dark. It must be an office level, and shut down for the night. Better still, Moore thought. Opening a door. He was rewarded with the sight of desks. Moving over to one in the corner, Opening a drawer and dropping the disc inside. Good, try and find it here. Caustously Moore left the office room. Looking down the corridor for pursuers, finding none. Going through the Labyrinth of the office level. Looking back, Moore was more interested if anyone was following that he didn't see the person he ran into. "Gasp..." the blade entered Moore's side. Looking up into the shadowed face of his attacker. All he could see was smiling lips that wore blue lipstick. "Would you mind telling me where the disc is?" the woman asked, yes woman. Moore could just make out her form in the dim light. She was silhouetted by a window. Another sharp pain as the knife was thrusted again into his body at the same time Moore's collar beeped. Eyes wide in terror with the prospect of death. Moore grined evilly. His answer more to Hasegawa then to the attacker. "FUCK YOU!" Through the Corridors of the building, the explosion could be heard as Moore's collar detonated. The force of the explosion threw the attacker screaming out the window, and with a sudden thud she was silenced for ever with the inpact of the street.
